...three planting activities, the opening of an adult care center, an award received for locally made honey, an elderly woman who was rediscovered, a chicken monster, a Halloween activity, a man crushed by falling earth and rocks, a visit from a red envelope-bearing City Mayor, a hot air balloon activity, cheaper houses, a fire in an old house, a forest fire and a flood warning.
2. In Qishan, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...a pipeline replacement project, a police officer rammed with a car, a truck that caught fire, a lunch for elderly residents, a lost and disoriented man looking for a waterfall, an inspection of illegally built private residences, a huge fire, discussion of a plan to build a crematorium, a power outage, the ceremonial tossing of wooden blocks, the construction of a new parking lot, a water stoppage, a plea for regular train service, rice tamales wrapped, awards for quality local goods and services, the cleanup of an illegal dumping site, blame over the perceived failure to keep a local ditch clear of debris, volunteers who hosted an environmental education activity, a religious procession from Miaoli, a man found dead in the women's restroom and a celebration at a Tudigong temple.

...a nurse who ate A LOT of meat, a village chief sent to jail, promotion of a tourist recreation park, packs of wild dogs eating pangolins, a mayor waxing enthusiastic over a proposed zoo, a fire, a pig farm illegally discharging waste, a "mother's banquet," a "public feast," a paper art festival, arrests after allegations of vote buying, a "battle ritual" and a scooter lane closed for a disaster prevention drill.
4. In Meinong, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...a Hakka/English storytelling competition, panic over COVID-positive cases, cherry tomato farmers seeking disaster relief, opposition to solar panels installed over fish ponds, an exhibition on disaster prevention, a reshuffling of government positions, an inspection of pineapple farms, a fire safety activity, a "flower ocean," a religious procession, subsidies offered for rice processing equipment, inspection of flood control measures, an arts festival, an excursion focused on local history and tourism, farms covered with colorful flowers, a book fair, the inauguration of dragon dances, the illegal mining of sand and gravel and visits paid by medical specialists.
5. In Shanlin, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...a water stoppage, a man illegally harvesting lumber, construction of a "multi-functional meeting center," a fire, high temperatures, a "flower ocean" at which visitors could pick flowers, the widening of a bridge, a visit by American students, the spotting of a Formosan sambar deer, an elderly woman rescued from an immobile mobility scooter and landslide preparedness drills.
6. In Liouguei, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...worry over landslides, a look into religious tourism, a market offering environmentally friendly products, promotion of a "rural escape room," two forest fires, a blossoming of pink shower trees, a drought and the setting up of water supply stations, the approval and construction of a new administrative center, students who went to visit the "big yellow duck" in Kaohsiung Port, the blossoming of plum trees, the completion of a new water park, college students recording activity at a local market, a section of highway that collapsed, extra officers dispatched to help students cross a road, a driver who drove off the road, a section of highway closed, the setting up of "disaster response sections" in local supermarkets, the blossoming of plum trees and a drug use prevention exhibition.
7. In Maolin, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...a landslide after heavy rains, a misidentified aquarium worker, renovation of a local hot spring, a map published to aid cyclists, a rainstorm that wasn't very helpful, a Rukai-centric market, a reduced mango harvest, cultural exchange activities between different tribal groups, a promotional event at a hot spring and a campaign to protect local butterflies.
8. In Jiaxian, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...a minor earthquake, an attempt to prop up the Hakka language, taro, bamboo shoot and plum harvests, an activity to promote coffee beans, traffic and garbage along the Southern Cross-Island Highway, a reading and walking activity centered around a bygone camphor industry, an announcement of low interest loans for jujube farmers, a taro and bamboo shoot festival, an earthquake and a section of highway closed.
9. In Taoyuan, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...reduced sales of plums, a man arrested for trying to steal a bucket of screws, a local market, an earthquake, the launching of a youth basketball program, heavy rains, green certification offered to farmers, a rite of manhood, an athletic competition, the blossoming of cherry trees, a diminished tea crop, an extra day off to cope with flooding, six hikers rescued from a sandbar, work and classes suspended after heavy rains, the completion of an access road, the launching of a special taxi service, students who climbed up Little Guan Mountain and the opening of an experimental education center.
10. In Namaxia, in the last 4+ years, there was/were...
...firefly season, a peach crop reduced by cold weather, the inauguration of a "men's meeting place," the donation of Japanese cherry trees, the start of firefly season, guided tours, the construction of two pillars at the entrance to the district, an archery festival, peaches sold to people in downtown Kaohsiung, an aboriginal sports activity, typhoon damage and residents feeling "forgotten," a visit by the City Mayor, a district mayor convicted of taking bribes and a City Mayor visiting a second time to inaugurate firefly and peach season.
