According the last census, 8359 people live in Nanxi. 上次人口統計顯示楠西的人口是8359人 。
This pineapple field is behind the now-defunct "Mango Sightseeing Factory," which once greeted visitors traveling north from Yujing. 這鳳梨田在以前的芒果農創玫瑰綠柏園觀光工廠後方 ， 它以前營業的時候，從玉井方向來的遊客可以在這裡休息一下。
The Xuankong Temple, which also serves as a monastery, is on the other side of Central Nanxi from the "Mango Factory." This building has been under construction for ages, but many other parts of the adjoining temple complex have been finished and are open to the public. 玄空法寺在楠西的另外一邊 。 這棟建築物已經處於施工階段一段時間了 ， 可是後面已經完工的部分開放給民眾進去 。
The highlight of this place is the statues, of which there are many. 這裡有許多雕像 ， 是這座佛寺的特色 !
The Buddha's life in globular form. This is, in my opinion, the most impressive thing there. I can't imagine how many hours of labor it took to complete it. 球形的佛生 。 我覺得這個東西是最酷的 ! 它的完成一定花了許多的人力 。
I wouldn't come here on a rainy day, but if the weather's good it's extremely interesting. You can also eat lunch here. The (vegetarian) lunch is free for all, though of course donating a hundred or so as thanks for the food is the right thing to do. 我不會在天氣不好時來這裡 ， 可是晴天的時候這裡很有趣 。 雖然這裡免費供午餐 ，可是我們覺得捐點餐費表示感謝才好，我們也這麼做了。
Behind the temple, on the Dzengwen River, is the Yongxing Suspension Bridge. This is the longest such bridge in Taiwan. 曾文溪上的永興吊橋位於玄空法寺的後方 ， 是台灣最長的吊橋 。
There weren't many other tourists when we were there. A lot of people don't bother with the bridge, and instead leave after they've seen the temple. 我們在吊橋的時候沒有其他遊客， 很多遊客參觀完玄空法寺之後直接離開 ， 沒有下去吊橋 。
Looking down on the Dzengwen River to the west. For most (not all) of its length this river divides "North Tainan" from "South Tainan." It's really muddy. 在曾文溪上往西邊看 ， 大部分的曾文溪為台南北部和南部的邊界 ， 這條溪很渾濁。
Looking north, toward Jiayi (Chiayi) County. 往北邊看 ， 遠處是嘉義縣 。
There are drinks and local agricultural goods available on the other side of the bridge. 吊橋的另外一邊有賣飲料跟農特產的攤販。
Some of the signs around here say that these farms are under the supervision of the Shanhua Farmer's Association. Maybe the Nanxi Farmer's Association isn't a going concern? 附近有善化農會的告示牌 ， 這個地區不是楠西農會的嗎 ?
Lunch is also possible on the opposite end of the bridge. I can't remember what this restaurant sells, but there was a sign for beef noodles across from it. 吊橋另外一邊也有午餐 ， 我忘記這家賣什麼 ， 可是對面有牛肉麵的牌子 。
The Meiling Scenic Area is in eastern Nanxi. It's one of the more broken-down scenic areas I've been to. In some respects it reminded me of Guandzeling to the north. There are a couple popular restaurants in the area, but most of the local businesses aren't exactly flourishing. 梅嶺風景區位於楠西區的東部 ， 這個風景區的旅遊設備比較差 ， 風景有點像北邊的關仔嶺 。 附近有兩家生意比較好的餐廳 ， 其他商店的生意沒那麼好 。
If you're driving here be sure your vehicle is reliable. The road into Meiling gets VERY steep, very fast. At one point our engine started smoking! 你開車來之前需要先確認車況 ， 因為梅嶺的馬路很陡 ， 我們汽車一度開始冒煙 !
Overall it's... kind of pretty. The scenery didn't blow me away, but it's OK just the same. My chief impression was that there are prettier places which are easier to get to. 我覺得這裡風景還好 ， 想法是其他地方有比較容易到達的優美景點。
On the way back to Yujing we visited the Old Jiang Family Residence. It made for a nice walk, even if the coffee shop was closed. 我們開車回去玉井的路上停靠江家古厝迷彩屋 。 那一天那裡的咖啡館沒開 ， 但是在附近散步不錯 。
The local government seems to be putting a lot of time, money and effort into restoring the surrounding buildings. It will probably be more of a tourist site in the future. 區公所在這些建築上花了很多時間 , 金錢跟人工 . 過了一段時間這裡比較像觀光景點吧 .
Oh, and we visited the Gueidan Hot Spring Area while we were in Nanxi. As it turned out it's neither especially scenic nor especially interesting. If you're just looking to soak in a local hot spring it's fine (and cheap), but the area as a whole is very run-down and not particularly inviting. 對了 ， 我們逛楠西的時候也去了龜丹溫泉區 。 那裏的風景一般，也比較無趣 ， 但是如果要就近泡溫泉的話可以去， 不貴 ， 可惜的是龜丹溫泉區有點落後並散發出封閉的不歡迎感。
